Marches Makers Festival 4 to 6 May 2019
The Marches Makers Festival is on 4 to 6 May over the Early Spring Bank Holiday. Up to 70 artists and makers will be exhibiting at several venues in Kington, including St Mary’s Church, the Old Police Station and Hergest Croft Gardens. Local galleries Made in the Marches and Leg of Mutton will also take part.
There will be a wide variety of art and craft works on display over the weekend including jewellery, ceramics, paintings, furniture, iron and metal work, handmade prints, textiles and fabrics, sculpture, accessories and handmade books.
This year’s Festival offers two new art competitions: the Christine Forrester Award, kindly offered by the Festival’s patron, with a prize of £200 and the Peoples’ Choice prize of £50, which will be voted for by the public.
The Marches Makers Festival came into being to showcase the wealth of talent in and around the area. Last year it brought over £15,000 into the town, with local businesses benefiting from the influx of people. Kington’s High Street has many small independent shops, cafes and pubs and there is free parking in the town.
Opening hours: Saturday 11am to 6pm. Sunday and Monday 11am to 5pm.
