FEATURING THE ENIGMA DUO (VIOLIN AND HARP)
This will be a lovely summer evening concert featuring two superb musicians - violinist
Laurence Kempton, who plays with Mid Wales Opera and is also a renowned chamber
player, and Katherine Thomas, Principal Harp of the City of Birmingham Symphony
Orchestra, who is universally regarded as one of Britain’s finest harpists. Together they are
the Enigma Duo.
The programme contains very popular classical music – by Bizet (a fantasy fusing together
famous extracts from Carmen), Massenet (his Méditation from Thaïs), Elgar (Chanson de
Matin) and Bartók (Romanian Folk Dances); some modern romantic music; and well-known
film themes, including Schindler’s List and Ladies in Lavender; and more … The artistry of
these two wonderful musicians will shine through and create a really delightful concert.
