SUMMARY:Map Launch-Pembridge
DESCRIPTION:Pembridge Village Map Launch Weekend\n\nMay 24 - May 27\n\n\n\nThe Pembridge Map Launch Weekend \nWe invite you to come and join us to Celebrate the launch of the Map which has been embroidered by the Tapestry Group over the last two years.  The map will be launched on the weekend of 24th\, 25th\, 26th and 27th of May in St Mary’s Church – where it will go on permanent exhibition.  The map itself\, which has been beautifully mounted and framed will be unveiled on the evening of Friday 24th May when we will welcome Dr Alex Langlands (you may remember him visiting the village for the Channel 4 Village of the Year Competition). \nA wonderful programme of events has been planned for everyone over the weekend.  Events will include a pageant through the village by the children from our school followed by an evening with the never to be forgotten Taiko Drumming Band together with the school choir presenting a variety of music.  The school is also planning a village I Spy and maypole dancing in the afternoon. \nOther events will include walks with Tony Norman (naturalist and tree warden) and Duncan James (local historian) as well as talks by Anne O’Brien (local author) and Duncan James.  We will also be joined by the Knighton Silver Band and the RAF bellringers. On Monday a lunchtime barbecue is planned with music by local singer Little Wren and the weekend will end with a Ceilidh in church on Monday evening\, organized by Pride in Pembridge. \nA special Festival Service will be held in church at 11.00 on Sunday morning while the Dean of Hereford Cathedral will be with us on Saturday at 10.00am to offer a Blessing to the Map and the Event. \nThe church will be decorated with displays by businesses Past to Present and on the church lawn there will be stalls and demonstrations.  Refreshments will be available all weekend in the marquee on the church lawn as well as a licensed bar. \nThe event is funded by National Lottery Community Fund\, James Henman Marquees along with generous donations from local families and businesses. \nPlease note that the event on Friday evening and also the Ceilidh on Monday evening are ticket only events!
